Yesterday we went back to Grove, the Headquarters of the Williams Formula 1 team. We were there to interview Patrick Head about David and his involvement in the then fledgling F1 team in the late 1970’s.

Patrick had arranged for us to meet him at the conference centre. On arrival we discovered that whilst a room had been reserved for the interview we had the option of filming in the Collection Room. Opening the door to the Collection is like opening an Aladin’s gave of Formula 1. The Conference Centre houses Sir Frank’s private collection of more than 40 cars, that catalogue the teams history. Seeing all these cars put a huge smile on the ChalkStar teams faces and provided a fantastic background for the interview.

Patrick was a joy to interview too, he told us about the early days, he recounted a few stories too. Clearly we’re not going to reveal all in this blog, but what i can say is that one of them involves a typical “Brode” road trip, with Patrick, and Giles Villeneuve. Those who have heard any of David’s stories might be able to guess the rest!
